I was a little hesitant to write this blog, fearing that I would be inundated with advertisers looking for a high-volume blog where they could place their ads.
But then I realized I have a strict no advertising policy on my site, so there was no need to worry.
At some point today, probably around 6:00 or 7:00 am EST, someone clicked on one of my blog posts, and my site reached 100,000 views. I wish I could identify who the person was so that I could offer them some reward, like a Borden’s Blog t-shirt or a link to my private collection of accounting videos on YouTube. But alas, I have no way of knowing who it was, leaving open the possibility that it was YOU!
I also wish I could figure out which particular blog post was number 100,000. Odds are it was my most recent one, How I Did with My Crystal Ball, but it could also have been one of my more highly read posts. Here is a list of the 11 most viewed blog posts (I had to get the Springsteen post in there):
And here are some more stats in terms of the average views per day for each of the three past years, and so far for 2018.
Year | Average Views per Day |
2015 | 51 |
2016 | 63 |
2017 | 89 |
2018 | 127 |
If the blog just maintains a steady state from this point forward, it looks like it will take me a little less than 20 more years to reach one million views.
Now I realize some people get a million views just for one simple tweet or Instagram photo, but I like taking the Seth Godin approach of drip, drip, drip. But it would be nice if some day it turned into a steady stream.
Finally, a big thank you to all of you who have taken the time to read my posts. I couldn’t have achieved this milestone without you!
Congrats on 100,000!
