I’ll never forget the chant.
It was at one of the four state swimming championship events I attended while in college, but I can’t remember which year.
But I do remember the chant from the swimmers of Edinboro State College, loud and clear:
“Oh Dee” (clap-clap) “ON NED” (clap-clap)
“Oh Dee” (clap-clap) “ON NED” (clap-clap)
Over and over.
On the first day, none of the other teams had a clue what it meant.
But then word leaked out that it meant “Overdose on Not Enough Distance”. The guys on the Edinboro team were bragging about the taper they had ended their season with so that they would be at peak performance for the championships.
It was a great rallying cry and one that our team unashamedly began chanting as well for the next two days. You know, if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em…
Anyway, I was reminded of that chant while trying to think of something to write tonight.
It was a late night last night, and I didn’t get to sleep until about 3:30 in the morning, and then I was awake to watch a streaming church service at 7:30. I was fine throughout the day, but then it started to catch up with me when I turned on the TV to watch the Olympics tonight.
I was hoping an idea would come to me for my blog, but I found myself dozing off, and then snapping my neck back to attention. Over and over again. I’m sure it looked just like this video that my wife captured of me a couple of years ago (back during my Grizzly Adams days):
And I must have had some crazy dreams while nodding off. In one of them, I dreamt that a guy from Italy won the 100-meter dash.
….
Wait, what was that?
A guy from Italy did win?
So there you have it. That’s all I’ve got.
That’s what happens when I’m:
“BLOGGING” (clap clap) “ON NES” (clap clap)
“BLOGGING” (clap clap) “ON NES” (clap clap)
Blogging on not enough sleep.
It’s not for the faint of heart…
I can’t wait for the pay-per-view. The next time you can’t think of something to write, you can show us the extended version. I’ve told my wife that someone needs to film us sleeping. We take turns snoring and rolling each other over all night. I imagine it’s pretty hilarious.

maybe that microchip you have from the vaccination IS filming you while you’re sleeping…

At least there wasn’t a cat in the video.

if there had been, this would have gone viral…

That must be a video of you reading one of my posts. Good thing you didn’t drool or you might have shorted out your laptop. That can be expensive.

having just finished reading your 27-part series on mindfulness, in hindsight it may be that I was just practicing mindfulness in that video…

Hmm, mindfulness can be very relaxing, and you did seem very relaxed in that video. So that explanation would work for me.

Simply natural progression. First Usain Bolt, and now an American born Italian. Predictable 100 meter races are so boring.

You are a warrior! I have never seen someone fight so hard to not fall asleep. By the way, the beard is a good look on you!

I’m not even sure my own faily would watch that show 🙂
and it was a great race…

LOL! When I nod off I make “emerald blue” mistakes. Of course I do that when awake too! ☺

Wow! That is a shocker. I missed the race. Would you please dream I won the Powerball jackpot?

now there was a caveat to the race; the guy was born in Texas, but he moved to Italy when he was a year old…
I’ve had that Powerball dream, and nothing happened…

Oh my! I better keep the camera away from Mrs. Buckeye. When I see you nodding off, I see myself trying to stay awake so I can catch another episode of Borden’s Blather.

yes, be careful who might be around when you start dozing off 🙂

Lol I literally fell asleep while blogging today and woke up after three hours not knowing what planet I was on! According to my sister I was talking in my sleep about adopting a hamster and naming it Lola…
