Me too. Let’s hope we still have a capitol at sunrise.

I’m glad Congress finished their work overnight, and today seems pretty calm so far…

It’s encouraging. Plus, Trump has signaled that there will be a smooth transition. Well, except for what occurred yesterday, maybe it can be smooth.

Quite a day, but it looks like democracy may work in the end. I doubt this is what the framers of the Constitution envisioned.

I knew democracy would prevail, but it should have never gotten to that point…

As a Black person who has lived in the U.S. for more than 60 years, this is not at all surprising. Constitutional principles and democracy have always taken a backseat to those in the majority who seek to preserve “their” way of life. And the rest of the majority has by and large gone along with it for centuries in spite of the unconstitutional, undemocratic, and downright disgusting means used to preserve privilege and “their” way of life. A vote which threatens “their” way of life, which is what Trumps has convinced them of, cannot be tolerated. “Segregation today, Segregation tomorrow, segregation forever” that’s the “American” way a popular politician pledged. Today was nothing new.

and the contrast between how these protesters were managed and how the black lives matter protesters were managed was startling, and quite troublesome…

Sometimes people do not seek or simply refuse to change until they hit rock bottom. Let’s all agree this is rock bottom.

I hope yesterday will prove to be the final act of the past four years, and the start of making the US better than it has been.

January 6 was one of the saddest and most heartbreaking days in my nearly 65 years. America needs to be better than this.
