I can’t remember the last time we went an entire summer without going to the beach.
The combination of COVID-19 and a revised teaching schedule made it a bit more challenging to plan a visit, but we were finally able to make it down the shore today, even though we missed summer by about five days.
The beach is one of my favorite places to go to, and I am quite content just sitting there reading and watching life go by.
I also made sure I took a quick dip despite the cool water and air temperatures, so at least that streak is still alive. After that, it was time to sit by the edge of the water with my toes in the sand and just watch the waves.
Hopefully, we will get the chance to spend part of next summer down the shore.
It’s one of my happy places…
*The photo above is of my son Pat taking a picture of the ocean, which looked a little rougher than usual.
Glad you got to sneak in a visit, Jim. Watching those waves sounds so relaxing right now! π

I’m a beach lover too. Our flat in Spain is just facing the Mediterranean see. All we had to do is take the elevator down cross the street and we’re at the beach. I miss playing in the sand. Hopefully for next year sounds like a nightmare for me. I want it to be surely π

wow – your place in Spain sounds perfect. We had a chance to visit Barcelona a couple of years ago and we fell in love with the city.
Let’s plan to compare beach visits next year… π

Yes, Barcelona got some pretty beaches. We drive through the national road near the coast, when we go up to Norway.
You’re on! Challenge acceptedπ haha π

Glad you had a chance to go! I am writing this from a Lake Huron beach after a quick dip. The water was cold, but it still made me happy!

Better late than never. Glad you could finally get away for a little bit of salt air.

But I did not spot any ducks, just lots of seagulls…

Ducks don’t like salt. We’re like snails. Salt will make us disintegrate.

it’s a good thing I’ve never put salt on duck…

That’s for sure. Saved you from a lot of bubbling and sizzling.

That does not look rough at all. We’ve had some hot weather recently so the beaches have been busy. I won’t swim for a few months yet.

there were not too many people in the water; the water was rougher than it is usually is…

We live right on the Pacific Ocean. It’s easy to take for granted when it’s right there. What streak are you referring to? I suspect it involves years that you have gone swimming in the ocean. Now, if it involves swimming while checking your WordPress stats, I think we’d better get you some help.π€£

how lucky for you to be so close to the ocean! and yes, the streak refers to years where I have gone in the ocean; I was a little hesitant to bring my phone into the water to check my stats… π

Our summer this year was without any trips to the beaches. Glad to hear that you managed to sneak one in for 2020 despite everything.

yes, it did feel good to get that one trip in; sorry you were not able to make it this year…

Yeah, our summer here was right in the center of the health crisis thing. Well, hopefully, it’ll be more fun next year, eh?

Glad you and the family got away for some quality time, Jim! With all that is going on in our lives lately, having a little consistency can feel wonderful.

We made the beach while we were visiting relatives in Cornwall recently. We just knew the puppy would bark at his first sight of the waves. He wasn’t brave enough to get more than his feet wet though.

I guess the puppy has to get used to those waves a bit…

Congrats on making it to the beach. There is something very alluring about the ocean. I haven’t made it this year to avoid a hotel stay.

Nice you were able to get that day at the beach Jim. There is something very calming sitting and watching the waves come in. I never considered the ocean much until I went to France last year and was able to sit at the beach and look out over the Mediterranean Sea, very nice indeed! Hopefully next year will be a much better time and you can get to the beach more. Have a great day Jim!ππΊπ

I thought the picture must be of your son, Jim. I also like the beach because I like the ocean. We were supposed to fly to Cape Town in April but, of course, that didn’t happen.

Oh yes, very nice beaches and a gorgeous mountain. There is also Cape Point wildlife reserve where the two oceans meet at the tip of Africa and there are wine farms to visit. Lots to do in Cape Town.
