I don’t know what’s more fun; getting old, or whining about getting old.
Within the first 30 seconds of my walk today, my right ankle, my right knee, and my left hip were all feeling a little bit less than ideal.
I hoped they would start to feel better as I eased into my walk, but no such luck. 30 minutes later I arrived at home, feeling no better, and fortunately, no worse.
I think I’ll use my time-honored tradition of not doing anything different and hoping that everything simply heals itself.
If that doesn’t work, I guess I’ll have to start walking for 45 minutes…
At least your right elbow was fine.

You are just having sympathy pain for my left shoulder.
I hope your pain eases up! Maybe you should try skateboarding instead of walking. π

I was jealous of all the attention your shoulder was getting…
skateboarding would likely lead to having a sore elbow, or two…

That would be pretty extreme, to extend your walk to 45 minutes. I suggest keeping it at 30 minutes, and hopping on your right foot.

He should be recording it at the same time so he can post it for us to watch!

I agree. I think he should hop to it right now.

That is a classically male triage technique, just keep going till something falls off. Not the wisest of physical evaluation methods, but I do the same thing so I can’t advise against it. When pain keeps us from doing the things we want to do, it is a good time to seek medical intervention. Although you may be suffering some of the aches and pains of old age, at least you still have the mental clarity to know you right from your left!

I have the example of my husband (two hip replacements and a dodgy knee) and feared that my recurring knee, hurting hip and occasional ankles were heading in the same direction.
Given the length of time it takes to get a GP appointment, and the proliferation of other concerns (in lockdown) I kept taking the glocosamine, turmeric and green-lipped mussel and carried on walking the dogs.
Right now, all aches and pains have subsided (except the shoulder I over-burdened lifting boxes when we moved). I expect they’ll be back when the weather changes.
Keep your fingers crossed and keep taking the tablets. good luck!

I’m glad you have found something that works for you; I’ve tried the glucosamine before, and it didn’t seem to do anything for me.
Hopefully my pains will magically go away π

I didn’t notice any difference with the glucosamine either, but I’m hoping it’s stopping things deteriorating faster. (Like keeping your fingers crossed.)
Green-lipped mussel supplements seemed to help our old dog, Pickle, when she was still with us. I reckoned that couldn’t have been psychosomatic, and that’s when I started taking it (only not the canine version). Things seemed to deteriorate when I was in NZ for a couple of months and couldn’t find any (which is odd, because that’s where green-lipped mussels come from. I’ve since discovred it’s available over there in multi-vitamin supplements though – which makes sense.)
Turmeric came later (for both me and the dog).

I’d never heard of the green-lipped mussel; may be worth giving it a shot…

Ya gotta use a foam-roller. Joint pain like that almost always comes from tight muscles pulling on your joint out of alignment. It hurts like hell but it works like magic.

good suggestion; I’ve gotten out of the habit of using my foam roller. sounds like it’s time to start it up again…

Iβd agree with others that whining about getting old is probably better than getting old πΆ
Also, itβs probably not the best idea to extend your walk time to 45 minutes, if youβre already struggling with 30 mate. Remember to Go easy on yourself
