I received the following email today:
“Bruce Springsteen joins President Barack Obama for a new original podcast Renegades: Born In The USA, available now on Spotify. Renegades is an eight-episode podcast featuring a deep and revealing conversation between the two friends, exploring a wide array of topics including race, fatherhood, marriage, and the state of America. It is a personal, in-depth discussion exploring their pasts, their beliefs, and the country that they love—as it was, as it is, and as it ought to be going forward.”
I could hardly contain myself – two of my favorite people doing a podcast together!
Here’s a video clip of the two of them talking about what the podcast is about:
And here is a trailer for the podcast itself:
At this point, the first two episodes are available on Spotify.
I’m putting off listening to the show for a few days because I’ve got 180 tests that need to be graded.
Having those two episodes waiting for me to listen to will be a great motivator to get those tests graded as quickly as I can…
Does that sounds exciting. I listened to the short intro, but will the rest of the podcast gonna be free? I’m quite stingy 🙃

I’m guessing if you have Spotify it is free, but I’m not sure…

Hm… it would be nice if it’s free… oh well, I’ll reinstall spotify I guess and check it out

I gave up trying to find out. The app keeps freezing and makes my phone collapse… ☹
I Uninstalled it after reinstalling twice. I’ll search my pc later, but I’m honestly losing motivation 😢

That’s a lot of tests to grade. Have you considered just pulling grades randomly out of a hat? Might make it easier.

or even easier, just give everyone an A…

Oh I would have loved if you were my Accounting professor if you are freely giving out A’s! I would have even brought you an Apple! 🙂

who said they were free? they have to promise to laugh at my jokes; that’s a tough choice… 🙂

And then you can brag about what a great teacher you are, since all your students get A’s.

Good luck on getting all those tests graded! Sounds like you need a good glass of wine to help you!

that would not be a good look if I spilled wine on one of the tests!

We are alike in so many ways. (Of course, I’m cooler.😎) Two of my favorites as well. I like the idea of two people with completely different backgrounds sitting down to talk and find common ground.

You must be in seventh heaven, my friend! I have to admit, this seems to be a conversation that I have to listen to. And for anyone who has the opportunity to enjoy this podcast, it seems a perfect example of how no matter how different our lives may appear on the outside, we are all on a shared journey and are more alike than different. I applaud you on using it as an incentive to get the grading done. It will make it that much sweeter. Probably would have never heard about this otherwise, so thank you for sharing Q!

I’m hoping it’s as good as I’m imagining it! And I did put a good dent in the grading today…

Save to Spotify library: check.
Activate Spotify skill on the Echo: check.
Find time to listen: as soon as possible.
I saw a trailer for this yesterday – it sounds as though it’s going to be good. Somehow, I can’t imagine the former guy sitting down with Kid Rock to do something like this.

I’ll be curious to hear your take on it.
And a podcast featuring Kid Rock and 45 could be highly entertaining…

Not sure when I’ll get round to it, so don’t hold your breath!
Entertaining, if inane ranting and rambling is your thing, I guess…

I think a lot of people would find such ranting entertaining; just think of the number of gaffes in such a podcast…

Gaffes and alternative truths, he’d be onto a winner – which would make a change for him…

That will be a podcast to follow and a great incentive for grading those tests. Obama and Springsteen will have insightful and different perspectives on the issues facing the nation. Your students have no sympathy for you b/t/w.

When I first heard of this I though it seemed like an odd pair, I need to take the time and listen to this as it should be interesting to compare their different experiences to their message. As for the 180 test to grade……wow……sounds like a lot of work!!
