This Is What Makes America Great

Every year there is a classic small town, 4th of July parade that passes right by the top of our street, and I think we’ve only missed one or two of them in the past 30 years.

The parade has everything you’d want – kids on decorated bikes, babies in elaborate strollers, war vets,Uncle Sam on stilts, Santa Claus, classic mustangs, fire engines and classic trucks (not really sure why).

Here are a few short videos of some the highlights:

And perhaps best of all was catching up with some old friends that we haven’t seen in a while.

Following the parade, there was a free picnic with live music and activities for children.

And then tonight, the day was capped off with a great fireworks show.

The holiday was a good reminder that there’s no need to talk about making America great again.

We were great, we are great, and we will continue to be great, thanks to the vision of our forefathers almost 250 years ago, and to the strength of our local communities, as shown by events like today’s parade.

Happy Birthday, America!
