“Somehow This Has Become Routine”

Those are the words of President Obama, referring to the killing of 10 people at Umpqua Community College in Oregon today.

According to CBS News’ Mark Knoller, this was the 15th time that Obama has made remarks following a shooting since he became president.

Here is the full video of Obama’s remarks today, where his sorrow, his anger, and his frustration can be seen.

According to the Huffington Post, today was the 45th shooting at a school this year.

My thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of those affected by today’s shooting.

I look forward to the day when such incidents are not considered routine.

So let me close with one word, and a video.

  1. I continue appalled at the senseless violence, the loss of lives of people just innocently going about their day. School, malls, movies. And so many politicians running around like headless chickens, pointing fingers, insisting it could not possibly be the weapon, oh no. Lizzie Borden, they say, managed to kill her parents without a gun.
Yes,but she managed to kill TWO people. Up close and personal. Not scores from far away.
I own a gun. My friends own a gun. None of us see a need for an automatic weapon. When did common sense disappear?
