This Might Be My Last Night to Write My Blog

I started this blog on January 1, 2015, and since that day I have written a post for 885 straight days (counting this one).

However, that may all be coming to an end around 11:00 tonight.

The reason?

I just bought a Powerball ticket, and the current jackpot is $337 million, with a cash payout of $209 million.

If I win, I might just hire a team of writers to write my daily blog posts for me. I’d suggest a few topics for them, and then tell them to write between 500-1,000 words on each of those topics. I’d then pick the best of the best to actually publish. I’d also tell them to keep the typos and the poor grammar and the feeble attempts at humor in the blog so that people would still think it’s me doing the writing.

I would probably still “guest” write one or two posts a month, if the mood struck me.

As to what we would do with the rest of the money, we haven’t given it too much thought. Suffice it to say that the local library would be very happy, as would all of our alma maters, DonorsChoose.org, the Williams Syndrome Association, Philabundance, Everytown for Gun Safety, and of course, the International Juggler’s Association.

If we don’t win the jackpot, well I guess you’ll still just be stuck with 885 more inane blog posts, featuring my trademarked typos, poor grammar, and feeble attempts at humor.

But you could take comfort in knowing that the posts were coming directly from yours truly.

      1. Exactly. Because there’s only so much this former copy editor can take in one lifetime. :p

        But, seriously, I don’t remember seeing much of that in the couple of years I’ve been reading your posts. And, although my life has been overwhelmingly busy and I haven’t kept up with your daily posts the last few months, I really would miss it if you stopped.

        You’ve been faithful and diligent. Keep it up, my friend.

  5. Congratulations on keeping going for so long. That’s pretty impressive. I started my blog with the Write & Run group at the same time and in that time I have posted 50-something posts, with another 30 or so in draft and another 50 or so lurking on my computer or phone as Word files. Many start “I just read about…”, but I will have to rewrite that because it’s no longer true. Perhaps I should start with the words, “Once upon a time, long ago, I read…” Keep up the good work!
