It’s taken over a year and a half and 680 blog posts, but I think I’ve figured out how to get people to read my blog.
After digging deep into the data, I realized that nobody really cared about topics such as eating consciously, the power of simple direct language, or dancing about architecture.
What people seem to like is when I put up a picture of me with a swollen eye, or when I tell the story of me walking into a glass door.
In other words, it’s seeing me in pain that readers seem to enjoy, sort of like the pleasure you get when watching the Three Stooges.
So I thought, ‘how can I give my readers more of that?’
But after some soul searching, I realized I’m getting too old for purposely hurting myself just to get more views.
So I decided it would be better to just stick with click-bait headlines, and if they don’t work, I’ll just live with fewer readers. After all, how much lower can that number go?
