Bosch Is Back!

The seventh and final season of Bosch made its debut last night on Amazon.

I’ve written a couple of times about how much our family enjoyed this detective show set in L.A.

One of those posts featured The Music of Detective Harry Bosch, since on the show Bosch is a big fan of jazz music. In fact, in last night’s first episode, Harry spends New Year’s Eve at a jazz club.

For whatever reason, that post has remained among my more popular ones since it was first published in February 2019. In fact, it’s my second most popular post of all time, with over 13,000 views.

The reason I bring this up now is that I saw there was a bit of a spike today in how many views the post had; it’s currently at 99 views.

My guess is that people saw the show last night, wanted to learn a little bit about what music was playing in the background or at the jazz club, and they made the mistake of typing in something like “music on bosch” into Google. After scrolling through all the youtube and Spotify links, a link to my blog post appears.

Those 99 people who clicked on it were sorely disappointed since I clearly state upfront how little I know about jazz. But I did provide some background on the music from the first season and the first book in the Bosch series by Michael Connelly.

I also provided a couple of useful links, one to Michael Connelly’s site that lists all the music featured in his Bosch series of books, and another link that shares the music from each season and episode.

So hopefully the people who somehow landed on my post lasted long enough to find those two links so that they can really learn about the music of Detective Harry Bosch.

In the meantime, we are looking forward to watching the rest of the seventh season…

  1. i’m going to take your recommendation and watch this series, it sounds like a winner, and i am a jazz fan, yet have very little knowledge about it, so we’re on the same page there

  2. Jim, I am a big fan of Bosch as well. Don’t know if you use Twitter much but all the main actors – Welliver, Aquino, Reddick … even Crate & Barrell … use it frequently. I love the show and am also, naturally, a big fan of Connelly’s books. I must admit that I have been a bit disappointed in the first few episodes of Season 7. It is still an excellent show, and I love to watch it. But I recently reread “The Burning Room” and am disappointed that the show doesn’t take a bit more of its plot from that excellent book. If you’re interested, here is a link to my latest post, which also includes within it links to other posts I have made about Bosch. https://pearlsnmblog.wordpress.com/2021/07/11/tv-review-bosch-season-7-based-upon-michael-connellys-book-the-burning-room-uhh-i-dont-think-so/

    1. thanks for sharing, Pearl. I’ve read a couple of the books andthought they were great. But then I got lazy once the TV show started, and jsut watched that. I liked the latest season, my wife and son thought it was not as good as the previous ones. We are all looking forward to the spin-off…
