Love Is in the Air!

I was leaving the grocery store parking lot when I noticed an older gentleman, perhaps in his late 70s, early 80s, walking gingerly across the snowy parking lot with a shopping bag in one hand, and a small bouquet of flowers in the other.

And I thought to myself, true love.

Two minutes later I was stopped at a red light and I saw a young man, maybe 15 years old, coming out of a drug store carrying a small bouquet of flowers.

And I thought to myself, first love.

Is that what the older gentleman was like at that age?

Would this young man grow up to be like the older gentleman?

Did the flowers have something to do with Valentine’s Day, or was it just because they felt like giving flowers?

So many questions, without any answers.

But I do know one thing – I need to step up my game…

  1. I bought my wife a dozen roses, every Tuesday evening for years. Itโ€™s a simple, yet heartfelt act that she appreciated. The cashiers at Publix, at first would ask if I did anything wrong? Then they got to know my routine.

  2. I have only ever received flowers from my husband once, Jim. I am not a fan. Cut flowers are a fag to deal with when you are busy entertaining. He also used to buy me jewelry and I’ve managed to put a stop to that too. Men buy gifts for their wives that their mothers like.

    1. I never heard of Dooney and Burke so I checked out their web site. It’s probably the last time I’ll check it out as well. ๐Ÿ™‚

I think the flowers look just as nice in the cellophane wrappers they come in ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. The old man and boy is a great observation and comparison. When the boy ages, he will probably be like the old man. When he was young, the old man may not have been like the boy. Live and learn. It is a lot easier to lose points on Valentine’s Day than it is to win them (IMO).

      1. Thanks Jim. He’s still in hospitable getting tested head to toe during high alert Covid times. I’m running on fumes but will definitely reporting on next week. And just maybe I can walk into 2021 ๐Ÿ™‚
