  1. As a Black person who has lived in the U.S. for more than 60 years, this is not at all surprising. Constitutional principles and democracy have always taken a backseat to those in the majority who seek to preserve “their” way of life. And the rest of the majority has by and large gone along with it for centuries in spite of the unconstitutional, undemocratic, and downright disgusting means used to preserve privilege and “their” way of life. A vote which threatens “their” way of life, which is what Trumps has convinced them of, cannot be tolerated. “Segregation today, Segregation tomorrow, segregation forever” that’s the “American” way a popular politician pledged. Today was nothing new.
