Is My Blog About to Pay Off? $$$

I started blogging six years ago with two primary goals.

First, to monetize the site, make a gazillion dollars, and retire early.

Second, to be a guest on one of the late-night talk shows.

Well, at this point, my agent has not been able to find a time that works with my schedule to appear on the late-night shows.

However, it looks like it may be time to cash in.

As some of you may know, a couple of years ago I wrote a post about the World’sLargest Tire Manufacturer that for some unknown reason became my most popular post of all-time, by far. The post has over 64,000 views; the second most popular post, about Tootsie Rolls at Planet Fitness, only has 10,000 views.

I never thought much of it, figuring it was just some random occurrence, and that nothing would come from it.

But then a couple of days ago I received the following email:

Dear Sir/Madam, Good day. This is ****** for trading company in Turkey, we do tyre buisness since 2005, we find your address in the website and we would like to have chance to work with you, and we deeply appreicate your kindly response Regards ******** P.R Manager

While I am disappointed the manager did not know that I was “Sir”, I can overlook that because of what this email means:

  • financial freedom
  • retirement, ahead of schedule
  • no more tests to grade
  • no more meetings to attend
  • a chance to say “I told you” to all those who doubted me
  • a chance to stop blogging, EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.

So I plan to reach out to the P.R. Manager this week. If I suddenly stop blogging, you’ll know why.

Of course, there is always the chance that the email is spam…

  1. Did he also mention that you have a long lost relative from Nigeria that needs your help?๐Ÿ˜Š He must have heard that college professors are rolling in the dough.

What would make this story truly memorable is if you start doing tire commercials. “I used to know that Borden guy before he became famous!”

  3. I did a tired post once, but so far I haven’t had near that many views. That’s phenomenal.

I think you should get in touch with this manager and talk Turkey with him. He could very generously Greece your palms. But be careful. Don’t go Russian too quickly into any deals.

  4. LOL, Jim. I hope that it is not spam. I did get a book contract almost the same way without nearly the number of views that you got, so you never know. Throw away red pens for chance to work tyres in Turkey. ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. LOL , not โ€œmyโ€ red pens, only red pens, no articles, I noticed. Iโ€™m not sure whether it is spam or not, is there an email you can answer. I wish you the best. Iโ€™m over the moon with 50 likes!

  5. All I can say is that is going to be one hell of a commute! I am not surprised by the interest though. We all love your blog and style of writing. It would also make for a great last couple of chapters for your memoir. At least the drive on the correct side of the road there.
