I’m a Big Boy Now

Four weeks ago, I broke both my wrists.

A week later, I had surgery on both of them.

Last week, I started physical therapy.

And today, for the first time in four weeks, I was able to get completely dressed all by myself.

My wife, a pre-k teacher, quickly put an end to my bragging and strutting by saying her four-year-olds can also get dressed all by themselves.

Not to be outdone by a four-year old, the only response I could come up with was, “Yea, but can they shave by themselves?”

Mic drop…

  1. One step closer. By next week you’ll be blogging about feeding yourself.πŸ˜‰ Kudos for not letting this get in the way of your blogging streak. That is truly impressive. I’m picturing the anesthesiologist asking you if you have any questions before surgery. “Yes, can I take one last look at my WordPress stats before you put me under?”🀣

  2. I am glad to hear that your recovery continues. Listen to your physical therapist and do all the hard work they ask of you. They are an under appreciated group of professionals. It is exciting that you can now dress yourself. Soon the wife may even let you pick out your own outfits. I loved your witty response to the wife, but I am a bit surprised as if I had your talents my natural response to any comparison would be, “Yeah, but can they juggle?” Take care, my friend!

    1. Thanks, Brad. I am a fan of physical therapist as well, and had briefly consider going back to school to become one myself a few years ago. And I don’t see the picking out my own clothes ever happening πŸ™‚

And hopefully I’ll be juggling again soon!

      1. Beer sounds good, but I guess that was a typo! I’ve grown a beard a few times: the itchy feeling soon goes. Pacing around sounds good, but mind the stairs…

  3. I do love your wife’s response, but yes, you had a good comeback. Now drive to Starbucks and get her a Santa Clause Frappe or a Salted Caramel one. πŸ˜‰
Glad you are recovering, keep it up!

      1. Ahh! Not quite that big of boy yet! πŸ™‚
I do feel for you. I couldn’t drive for 2 weeis after my surgery and it does feel strange when you are so used to just hopping in the car and going wherever you need to. I do think my kids kind of enjoyed being my chaueffer.
