Apparently, Amazon’s Alexa is so easy to use, even a parrot can use it.
Rocco, an African grey parrot, was caught using the virtual assistant to play his favorite music, tell jokes and even order snacks, The Times of London reports.
Unfortunately for Rocco, its owner had put parental controls on Alexa, and none of the following items which Rocco had requested were actually ever ordered: watermelons, raisins, broccoli, ice cream, strawberries, ice cream, a kettle, a light bulb, and even a kite.
Rocco is quite the talented parrot; this is not the first time he’s gotten in trouble. Rocco was removed from a sanctuary run by the UK’s National Animal Welfare Trust for swearing too much.
In addition to his Alexa skills and his swearing skills, Rocco has also mastered countless household sounds.
“He knows the telephone and can make different mobile ringtones,” according to Marion Wischnewski, his current owner. “He can do the microwave or the squeaking door on my fridge. He can do the ice cream van in the summer, and a truck reversing so loud you think it’s in your living room.”
Unfortunately, I have not been able to find any video clips of Rocco actually cursing or ordering stuff through Amazon’s Alexa, even though he does so up to 40 times per day.
But it seems to me that if Marion, the parrot’s owner, would start sharing videos of Rocco on Youtube, she might earn enough from Google ads so that Rocco can actually order things from Alexa without being treated like a little kid.
Maybe Rocco could even be featured in a commercial for Amazon.
The possibilities are endless.
