A Peaceful, Easy Anniversary

Today was our 37th wedding anniversary, and I knew it was going to be tough to top what I wrote last year, 36 F***ing Great Years, so I’m not even going to try.

It was a pretty typical day; we both taught, got some takeout for dinner, and watched World News Tonight and the season premiere of Survivor (which in a strange coincidence is their 37th season).

I guess not every anniversary can be a surprise trip to London, a new SUV, or front row tickets to see Bruce on Broadway or Penn and Teller in Las Vegas. (Actually, no anniversary has ever been like that; takeout and David Muir are pretty much the norm.)

But anniversaries do offer us the chance to reminisce about our wedding day, and the many happy years of marriage we’ve had. As a result, it will always be a most special day.

But one of the ways I am going to celebrate today is by keeping this post short, and sweet.

Thank you, Mary, for 37 great years. Here’s to 37 more wonderful years (or maybe 54 more years so that we can beat the world record, at least according to Wikipedia.)
