A Proper British Day

As we are getting near the end of our time in London, we are trying to make sure we get in as many experiences as we can, and today was no exception.

After waiting for the weather to clear up, our day started by taking a walk across the Golden Jubilee Bridge, heading towards Covent Garden. The destination for my wife and I was the B Bakery for afternoon tea. Our son opted to head to Shake Shack.

The afternoon tea was a great experience, one of the best meals we have had in London. The bakery offers a full vegan afternoon tea service, and thus were able to accommodate my needs. The tea was great, the sandwiches were great, and the desserts were out of this world (and the company was perfect).

As you can see, it looks like I do not have the proper tea drinking form, as my pinky is not extended. What can I say; a rookie mistake; it won’t happen again.

After lunch, we met up with our son and started walking to Soho, where we explored the shops of Carnaby Street (and of course, Crosstown Doughnuts)

After Soho, we decided to walk down Regent Street to Oxford Street, with the goal of visiting Selfridge’s Department Store.

It is an impressive store with over 500,000 square feet of retail space. We took our time exploring the various floors, highlighted by a great magazine section and lots of free food samples.

After a while it  was time to call it a day, and we hopped on the Jubilee line and headed home (almost 20,000 steps later).

Once we got back to our flat we relaxed by streaming 6ABC Action News to our TV via Apple TV and Airplay and watching the coverage of the storm back home in Philly.

All in all, a great day in London.

And we hope for a few more like it before it is time to move on.

Cheerio…
